A Spanish noble, Teresa grew up reading the lives of the saints.
She was cured of a crippling disease when she was a child after prayer to St. Joseph.
Soon after joining a Carmelite community, she became seriously ill and began having visions.
Frustrated by the lack of discipline in her order, she founded her own community with the help of St. John of Avila.
She was a mystical writer and was declared a Doctor of the Church.
"Let nothing trouble you, let nothing make you afraid. All things pass away. God never changes. Patience obtains everything. God alone is enough."
– St. Teresa of Avila
