Buen Camino — A Song for the Journey
In the summer of 2016, my brother Tim and I walked the Camino de Santiago together across northern Spain. It became far more than a long walk. Mile after mile, through small villages, ancient churches, mountains, aching feet, laughter, prayer, and countless “Buen Caminos,” the road had a way of stripping away the noise of everyday life and making room for God.
Years later, those experiences became part of the inspiration for my novel Climbing Out of the Darkness, and now they have inspired this song, “Buen Camino.”
The Camino taught me something I have never forgotten: sometimes we begin a journey looking for answers, only to discover that God is changing us along the way. The destination may be Santiago, but the real Camino happens within the heart.
This song is dedicated to my brother Tim, to the miles we walked together, and to every pilgrim who has discovered that faith, friendship, struggle, and perseverance can lead us closer to God.
Buen Camino, my friends. Keep walking. One step closer to God.
