Maybe God Said Rest
Sometimes what feels like a closed door may actually be God opening the way to something we didn’t realize we needed.
After nearly twenty years of balancing full-time work with active ministry as a deacon—often working seven days a week—I’ve decided to enter a six-month season of rest. A hoped-for assignment didn’t work out, and while that brought disappointment, it also brought an unexpected sense of relief.
This season will be about getting healthy, losing weight, strengthening my marriage, helping my wife and me focus on our health together, settling into our new home in Redding, and simply rediscovering what it feels like to have a weekend together.
“Maybe God Said Rest” is a song about realizing that not every closed door is a rejection. Sometimes God redirects us. Sometimes He asks us to serve. And sometimes, after years of giving, He may simply be saying:
Rest. Heal. Refocus. Love your family. I’ll show you what comes next.
The stole isn’t being put away forever. This is simply a new season—same calling, greater trust.
