There is something so very special about being a missionary in another country and culture. Even though we never truly understand the other culture, and we always seem a little different to those we are there to serve, we can still see within them God's essence and wonderful creative power in not only them, but in their culture.

My experience has been that with the development of our culture, we have lost some of the simple truths in life. Living a life of more simplicity, these truths are more clearly seen and identified. There is less distractions to help fade them away.

Yes, there is struggle, pain, and even death in these countries and that is just wrong, especially when we really could do something about it...... really.... But they, for the most part have such a deeper connection with faith, God, life....because it stems from struggle, self knowledge, and deep reflection.

A life of comfort and ease makes little room for deep contemplation, serious self reflection, and awakening of the soul and spirit.
