3rd Homily Is A Charm?

You might or might not know, that I usually spend a great deal of time preparing for and writing my homilies. Probably to make up for my lack of ability, but none the less, I have created a habit of beginning early and preparing for weeks in preparation for my preaching.

I was scheduled to preach on December 21st at an evening Mass for Simbang Gabi. I studied, prayed, studied, and wrote a homily that I felt pretty good about. Then my daughter informed my that she has a dance performance that evening.

So, I called Father Jonathan and was able to switch my preaching night to December 23rd at the evening Mass. I was a little bummed at first because I had put so much time into writing the homily, but reminded myself that my daughter is way more important than a homily. I just laughed it off.... thinking "Nice Trick God!"

I began the process once again. I studied, prayed, studied, prayed and wrote a homily that I felt pretty good about. If fact, I thought this second homily was even better than my initial one.

Then I realized that I wrote a great homily for the wrong day! I wrote the homily based on the readings for December 24th.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to scrap another. "Nice Trick God!"

Can you guess what I will be doing this weekend?

Third time is a charm - What does that really mean anyway!

Additional Note: I was able to finish the 3rd homily and guess what? I think it is even better than the first two..... I think it was your prayers (Thank You)
