Dad and Kids Ski Day

I feel so very blessed that I have a life where I get to see and be around my kids everyday. Some of that is due to our decision to Homeschool, but mostly because we want to be a constant influence in our children's lives.

So, as a Father always looking for an opportunity to take advantage of any situation to have fun with my kids, when I awoke and saw blue skies, and thought about all the options to be had after Mass this morning, we hit the road for the slopes.

1 hour and fifteen minutes later we were on the mountain with Mackenzie leading the way.

I was amazed at just how peaceful and beautiful it was on top of Mount Shasta.

Well - peaceful until Sean came flying by every so often like a tornado.

All kidding aside, Sean is probably the best snowboarder I have ever seen. He would leave us to play at the terrain park with all the jumps, rails, obstacles, etc.

And then, he was back again to just say Hi, spend some time with his dad and his sister, and then off again to the Black Diamond trails of pure adrenaline.

And then, Mackenzie decided that she was ready to leave her comfort zone of the green (easy) trails and venture off into the land of Blue (Moderate) trails. This meant catching a second lift to a high elevation on the mountain, and facing the fear of the unknown.

Just off the lift, Mackenzie and Sean strap their boots in.

And over the cliff we go. You don't see it here, but I flew down the run and wiped-out somewhere near the middle, no injury, thanked God, and off again. But Mackenzie, not even a fall.... I am so proud of you!

What a great day.

I thank God everyday for the life he has given to me, the kids he entrusted to Liz and I, our Faith, our vocation, and all the blessings that he showers us with.

Mackenzie is such a special girl and she truly shined today.

This was the warm-up run at the beginning of the day.

Wow ... that looks very cold to me. Must have been great fun though.

God bless you and your family.
